3 Keys To Turkey Hunting Success

Turkey hunting success is often the result of three key elements. These are decision making, hunter instincts, and experience in the field.

Decision Making

The first key is the choices that hunters make. The turkey hunter will usually have numerous decisions throughout the hunt. Where to setup first, what type of call to use, should a decoy be used, when to call, how to call, and so forth. These are just a few of the turkey hunting decisions to be made that will determine the outcome of the hunt. Each decision is like a piece to a puzzle. Choosing the right pieces to play will usually find the hunter with a successful hunt.

Hunter Instincts

The second key is the instincts of the hunter. The choices that are made while turkey hunting are often the result of hunter instincts. That feeling of knowing what to do next in any given situation. These instincts come from spending time in the field and learning how the turkey goes through daily activities. More often than not, hunter instincts will lead to good setups that result in hunting success.

Hunting Experience

The final key is turkey hunting experience. This comes from spending time becoming educated in turkey behavior and then applying that knowledge in the field. Each time the hunter goes out to hunt the turkey, the hunter will gather more information. Regardless of the outcome of the hunt, every hunt only gives the hunter more experience. The more experience that the hunter has will result in improved success.

Make proper hunting decisions, follow your instincts, learn from experiences, and you have mastered the three key elements to turkey hunting success.
